Healthy and Secure Infants
For pregnant women, HIV/AIDS counseling and testing is encouraged to promote maternal health and prevent mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS. “Mama Kits,” consisting of an infant towel, soap, and other items needed for a hygienic delivery, are provided for women who deliver their babies at health centers. Training is provided for community volunteers who provide psycho-social support to households with children affected by HIV/AIDS. Caregivers participate in parenting workshops to build skills needed to help children living with HIV/AIDS develop greater resiliency.
